J.I. Packer on aging well to the glory of God

Posted by Stephen Witmer on February 27th, 2016

God values and treasures all human life, from the youngest (still in the womb) to the oldest (many of whom our society rejects and forgets). In considering what it means to age well, to the glory of Christ, there can hardly be a better guide than the 89-year-old British theologian J.I. Packer.

Packer has written the truly excellent little book Finishing Our Course with Joy: Guidance from God for Engaging with Our Aging, which I highly recommend.

Recently, Packer announced that macular degeneration struck him over Christmas 2015, and will prevent him from continuing to read or write. In a remarkable interview with the Gospel Coalition (which you can read here), Packer reflects on aging. Please read this interview, which will encourage and challenge you.

And here’s an excellent, recent short movie about the life of J.I. Packer, in his own words.
