Marriage retreat in October

Posted by Stephen Witmer on July 11th, 2015

Dear PCF couples,

Marriage is a great idea – in fact, it’s God’s own idea. He’s the one who created and blessed it. As a church, we want to encourage and equip those of you who are married. We want to see marriages flourish and thrive and be a blessing. So, toward that end, we’re planning a marriage retreat this Fall for all PCF couples.

If you’re married or soon to be married, this retreat is for you. It will be helpful for you if your marriage is in a difficult place. It will also be helpful for you if things are going well but you want to go deeper and have your marriage be even more glorying to Jesus and satisfying for your own soul. Wherever you’re at, this will be a productive and fun time.

The retreat will run from Friday (7-9pm) – Saturday (8.30am – 2pm), October 16-17. It will be in Nashua, New Hampshire, at Trinity Baptist Church. It’s near enough that you don’t need to stay away overnight if you have kids and aren’t able to find someone to babysit them overnight. However, there are many motels in Nashua, and we encourage you, if you’re able, to stay overnight on Friday and make it a brief get-away as a couple.

Our speakers will be Paul and Peggy Buckley. Paul is the pastor of King of Grace church in Haverhill, MA. He and Peggy have been married for many years and have four adult children. They are wise, intelligent, and down to earth people. Paul and Peggy will both share, and the talks will be practical and biblical. Among other things, Paul and Peggy will discuss cultivating a communion in your marriage – not just getting along and keeping the peace, but going deep with one another and Christ. They’ll share their own story. We’ll have times for asking them questions and also for applying the talks with our spouses.

We will keep the cost to a minimum. It will likely be about $60-70/couple.

We hope you can come. Please put it on your calendars now. In the next couple months we will be asking you to RSVP to let us know you’re coming.

Warmly,

Pastor Stephen

p.s. Husbands, one more thing: you will score major points with your wife if you take the lead on this and make sure you and your wife are coming on October 16-17!
