The Heidelberg Catechism on the providence of God

In Sunday’s sermon I quoted the Heidelberg Catechism on the providence of God. If we would memorize this, pray it, live it, love it, we would be changed. We would be more God-centered and we would be more grounded and we would be thankful.

Here it is, in response to the question: ‘What dost thou understand by the Providence of God?’

“The Almighty and everywhere present power of God; whereby, as it were, by his hand, he upholds and governs heaven, earth, and all creatures; so that herbs and grass, rain and drought, fruitful and barren years, meat and drink, health and sickness, riches and poverty, yea all things come not by chance, but by his fatherly hand.”

Meditate on that for a week, as I have done, and you’ll grow as a Christian.
