Tim Keller has had an enormous impact on me through his books, articles, sermons, and conference talks. His sermons consistently amaze me with their biblical and cultural insights. The breadth of his reading has always blown me away. Since his death, one of the most notable features of the numerous tributes has been the frequent mention of his humility and kindness. He cared for people well, he honored those with whom he disagreed, he wasn’t overly impressed with himself. I had one conversation with him at a Gospel Coalition conference several years ago, and he was attentive, kind, and interested. He asked me about my ministry and he knew where Pepperell was. I pray that Keller’s ministry impact will only increase over time, as people continue to read his books and listen to his sermons.
