Associate Pastor, Pepperell Christian Fellowship
The purpose of the Associate Pastor is to glorify God by building community internally and mobilizing the church to be on mission in reaching the broader community. The Associate Pastor also offers an example of personal integrity and Christ-like character to the people of Pepperell Christian Fellowship (PCF) and the surrounding community, and guides the people of PCF toward greater Christian maturity through biblical teaching and preaching and through the performance of pastoral duties.
• Reports to, and is a member of, the board of elders
• Functionally reports to the Lead Pastor as the “elder in the office”
• A man who meets the elder qualifications in the New Testament
• Has a Master of Divinity degree or equivalent (preferred)
• Is in agreement with the PCF Statement of Faith, the PCF Statement on Abortion, the PCF Statement of Belief and Practice on Marriage and Sexuality, and the Gospel Coalition Confessional Statement
• Is in a regular and ongoing accountability relationship
• Maintains a daily personal and family devotional life
• If married, and if he has children, demonstrates faithfulness in loving his wife and children. Maintains scheduled family time, including weekly protected time and annual vacation periods, and recognizes the need for personal free time.
• Regularly participates in the corporate prayer life of PCF
• Prays regularly on his own for the people and ministries of PCF
• Has regular interaction with non-Christians, and prays for and shares the gospel with non-Christians
• Teaches and preaches at PCF on a regular basis
• Endeavors through whatever means possible (e.g. leading a small group) to communicate biblical truth in an attractive and compelling way
• Invests in ongoing personal discipleship
• Assists with (or conducts) services as needed, including: baptisms, infant dedications, Communion, weddings, funerals
• Shares pastoral care responsibilities, including visitation and counseling, with the other elders and ministry leaders at PCF
• Assists members of PCF in conflict resolution where necessary
• Participates in mentoring pastoral residents
• When necessary, works with members of the congregation and elders in matters of correction and church discipline
• Organizes church events, and assists in the operation of the church, as needed
• Helps the congregation to develop a culture of outreach to the local community(s)
• Promotes a culture (and organizes programs) that welcomes visitors
• Helps to nurture gospel-centered relationships within the church community
• Assists in developing PCF’s interaction with other churches in the community
• Provides leadership of various church ministries as needed (e.g. Life Groups)
• Fulfills other responsibilies as determined by, and in concert with, the board of elders
